Baby Steps didn't start as a business. It started as a frustration: two preschool teachers watching, over and over, how "finding a nanny" in Guadalajara was a coin toss — and how families deserved far more than crossed fingers.
How it all began
In 2021, Laura Torres and Mariana Olvera were classmates studying Preschool Education. Between kindergarten placements and babysitting jobs, they noticed a pattern that bothered them: informal childcare ran on word of mouth, with no vetting, no training and no tools. When it went well, it was luck. When it went wrong, the kids paid the price.
Their bet was simple and radical: what if every nanny were an education or health professional? What if every hour of care were also an hour of development? They started taking services themselves — teaching materials in their backpacks and a standard they refused to negotiate — and families began recommending them unprompted.
Today Baby Steps is an agency: we source, interview and vet the nannies, and match each family with the one who fits best. Our roster includes educators, psychologists and nurses, alongside nannies with years of proven experience. We serve homes, events and trips across metropolitan Guadalajara, 24/7.

That's why our team trains in neuroeducation, early stimulation, emotional intelligence and learning through play: the science is clear that the early years build the brain's architecture, and every interaction counts.
In practice it means something concrete: the nanny we assign arrives with age-appropriate activities planned, follows your rules and routines, and afterwards tells you what they did, what they ate and what they discovered. Care with evidence, not promises.
